  1. You’ll be able to afford a house (or rent)
California’s cost of living is increasing day-by-day. “Overall, Los Angeles, California is 70.6% more expensive than Dallas, Texas” (Source: https://www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/dallas-tx/los-angeles-ca/65000).
A simple search on Zillow shows a house that would cost approx. $1million in California costs only $400,000 or lower in Texas. Rent is also cheaper in Texas. For example, $1000 will get you a small studio in California, whereas you can rent a 2bd apartment in Texas for the same.
  2. No income tax
Another reason people are leaving California is due to the high-income taxes. Moving from the state with the highest income tax, it’s nice to save those extra bucks and maybe buy a nice house or invest in savings.
  3. Job economy
The Texas economy offers great job opportunities. “In fact, WalletHub ranks Texas as having the 12th best state economy based on GDP growth, startup activity, jobs in high-tech industries, and more.” Also, the Texas job market is booming thanks to the many businesses opening new locations in big cities like Houston and Texas.
  4. Culture and Diversity
Most people know Texas for its “big” culture, including cowboy boots, rodeos, and country music. Texas is also the second-most diverse state, which allows for vibrant arts and entertainment scene, with festivals and concerts.
  5. Food
The diverse culture brings diverse food. Tex-Mex — blend of South American with Mexican food — is a favorite cusine for Texans. The food is not the healthiest but it’s certainly the tastiest.
  6. Good Universities
Two of the best universities in the United States are located in Texas: The University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University. You can find reputable colleges and high schools in every Texan State.
  7. Family-friendly
Because of affordable housing, Texas has been a popular state with families. More and more young families are making the move. From experience, more affordability means less work hours, and more time with family.
  8. Safe suburbs
If safety is your top concern, Texas is the place for you. Many Texan cities and suburbs are safe and family-friendly. The ‘Southern Hospitality’ makes you feel welcome and cared for. The people’s politeness and concern just adds to their charm.
  9. Space for everyone
There’s obviously a big problem of homelessness in California. Roads and sidewalks filled with tents can be found in most areas. Although, Texas has its fair share, it’s nearly not as much as California. This point somewhat ties up with number 8. Less homeless problem means more safety and security.
  10. Plenty of things to do
Texas is full of nature. There are enough state and national parks to keep outdoor enthusiasts happy. Don’t worry if you’re not an outdoor person. Texas’s major cities (Austin, Dallas and Houston) have many of the best restaurants, shopping and cultural activities. On weekends, you can usually find people at bars cheering for their favorite sports team. Texas has something to offer for every personality.
